I Believe . . .

  • Children are naturally curious and need to explore their curiosity to learn.

  • Children learn best when they are able to explore and discover things for themselves.  Assisting discovery allows children to make connections to the real world and their surrounding.

  • As a teacher, it is my role to ensure every child feel special and know they can achieve anything if they try.  Building a relationship where children feel comfortable and confident to want to try new things.  Knowing it’s okay to make mistakes.,

  • Providing a faith based environment where children learn to love and respect themselves and others.

School Vision Statement

"Inspiring passionate minds": Our goal is to provide a Catholic educational environment in which each child can grow and develop to his or her fullest potential. This can be achieved and enhanced by home, school and parish working together in a collaborative partnership. Within our Catholic Christian context, we can prepare children for the future, for the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and for daily life in our rapidly changing world.

School Mission Statement

In order to prepare our students to live in and contribute to a changing world and engage in active faith-filled, lifelong learning; St. John Bosco School provides an interactive and collaborative inquiry based learning environment that promotes higher level critical thinking utilizing real-world tools.

2022 - 2023 Book Theme I am One: A Book of Action

“I Am One: A Book of Action”, by Susan Verde and Illustrated by Peter Reynolds. This book addresses an important issue of community activism. The author urges even the youngest community members to contribute in some small way to make change. Our theme book makes a bold statement about the power of the individual to change the world by their actions. From the start of the story, the tiny main character asks a colourful bird, “How do I make a difference?” She doubts her ability to make a difference because she is “so small”. However, when the bird gives her a seed, she realizes that “beautiful things start with just One”. As the main character breaks down her literal wall, she also realizes that her actions can bridge gaps to create joy. Gentle words start conversations and friendships. Acts of kindness start human connections. Tender hugs start caring relationships. Lighting a candle can start progress. Making a drop in the water can lead to ripple effects that traverse oceans and borders. We have many examples, past and present of people who through small daily actions have and continue to make an impact on the lives of many. The powerful message of this book is clear, every human being, no matter how young or old, can start taking actions which will lead to positive change. Each of us can make a difference in our community and our world. This story emphasizes the importance of understanding the power of one as we each let our light shine for the glory of God.
